EMS 911 INFORMATION
9-1-1 is in service for every telephone within Ottawa County 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
9-1-1 dispatchers are trained to ask questions about your emergency that will help them determine what agency should respond and how quickly a response is needed.
Ottawa County Emergency Communications provides dispatch services for Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Service and Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
The 9-1-1 dispatch center is located in the Ottawa County Detention Center at 312 N Ottawa, Minneapolis, Kansas. The administrative phone number is: 785-392-2157. Keith Coleman is the 911 Administrator, phone no. 785-392-3600.
When a 9-1-1 call is received at the dispatch center, the phone number, telephone customer name, address and responding fire, EMS, and law enforcement agency is automatically displayed on the computer screen. The customer has the option of having more information added to their displayed record, such as family medical information etc. To add information to your record, you should dial 911 in the evening or on Sunday. When the dispatcher answers, tell them that you would like to add some information to your record. That information will be typed in and become a part of the information that appears on the screen when 911 is dialed from your telephone. This does not include wireless or cell phones. At this time, we do not have the capability to bring up information on this type of customer.
